Waiting
I wait
And hope
In the two week window
of the unknown and unknowing.
We pray
That this Easter
We rejoice in a new life
Newly formed in my womb
Just as we celebrate Christ’s life
Newly free from his tomb
Previous loss prevents me
From innocent confidence in what’s to come
We knew before
And our knowing
turned to losing
then mourning
I don’t want to lose this one.
So I wait
And hope
I poke the thickness in my tummy
Wondering if a little one is growing there
Or if I just have a lot to lose there
Thoughts of scales are banished
For now
As I wait
And hope.
